Expanding Your Vision: Beyond the Familiar
Hey everyone,
This month has been incredibly heavy for me, as I said goodbye to my father. Navigating that grief is a powerful, profound process, and in the midst of it, I've found myself thinking about the theme we're exploring this week: Expanding Your Vision: Beyond the Familiar. It’s easy for our world to shrink when we're in pain, but sometimes, a monumental event like this forces us to expand our vision, to see what truly matters and what's possible for our lives, in a way we never could before. This isn't about ignoring the pain; it's about making space for more than just the pain.
The Comfort of the Familiar
Let's be honest, the familiar is cozy. It’s that old "default mode" we've talked about before—the well-worn path, the story we've told ourselves about who we are and what our world is. My own journey with RV living is a perfect example. I started with a tiny, 19-foot Mini Cruiser with no AC, and for me, that was a radical expansion of what "home" could be. But with each challenge—the fifth wheel that went into the water, the motorhome that blew its engine—I was forced to expand my vision further. The " Default You " clings to the known, believing that new opportunities are too risky or too hard. That's a subtle Fatal F of Fear, a fear of the unknown that turns your potential into a dumpster fire of "what ifs" and "should haves."
The Audacious Invitation to Expand
So, this week's invitation isn't about getting on a plane to Bangkok—unless you're really feeling it! It's about a shift in perception, a conscious choice to open your eyes a little wider. It’s about challenging the idea that what you've always seen is all there is, by asking a simple, yet audacious question: "Why Not?"
This is the principle that guided my RV journey. Instead of listening to the "Why I can't" when society (and my own " Default You ") whispered its doubts, I began to ask, "Why Not?" It wasn't about having all the answers; it was about trusting my intuition and allowing new possibilities to emerge. Every setback became an opportunity to expand my vision, to see that a successful, joyful life could be so much more spectacular than I had ever imagined.
This week, I invite you to take one small, fearless step beyond the familiar. What will you do to expand your vision and see the world in a whole new way?
With so much love,
